Sam Rea

Sam Rea is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of PEAK6 InsurTech, which is committed to delivering better value to customers through the development of cutting-edge technological advancements, seamless service, and mutually beneficial agency and carrier partnerships.

As CTO of PEAK6 InsurTech, Sam leads the technology and data teams that enable the success and growth of the company and each of its three operating businesses: We Insure, MacNeill Group®, and Team Focus Insurance Group.  In partnership with the business leaders, Sam develops, oversees and is responsible for executing the technology vision and data strategy for the company in addition to managing the daily operational aspects the teams.

Rea is a CTO/CIO with over 20 years of experience leading IT organizations in the insurance industry. With a focus on identifying and deploying technology to achieve business results, he is known for championing new technology and new practices.  Rea has been a driving force in successfully executing large scale technology projects that help steer companies to achieve profitable growth.  Prior to joining Peak6 InsurTech, Rea served as CIO at National General Insurance and held leadership roles at Zurich and Allstate as well.

Sam began his career at the Ford Motor Company designing car and truck engines.  Rea holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University, where he conducted experimental research in supersonic jet engine propulsion. His unique background motivates him to design and implement solutions to move companies forward.
